About Us

We are a group of highly talented, trained and motivated tutors dedicated to helping students get into the schools of their choice. Our motto is 'Better Tutors. Better Results.' and we are proud of the fact that our tutors outshine those of other companies in the industry. Our tutors have an average SAT score well above 1500 (770 math, 760 verbal), and among our ranks are five Valedictorians, one Salutatorian, and five National Merit Scholars. We recognize, though, that learning and teaching are two different skills; therefore, we require that all of our tutors have teaching experience prior to working for Appelrouth Tutoring Services.

We care about our students' success and constantly strive to help them set their goals and realize their potential. Whether they are seeking to master the material, overcome the anxiety of test taking, or gain confidence in their abilities, our students will find that we are committed to doing whatever it takes to help them achieve their optimal results.

Testimonials

J. ended up selecting NYU -- College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in history, politics, or similar -- at least for now. He is thrilled to be in New York and is finding college a welcome challenge. Thanks again for all the help you gave him. He gained knowledge and confidence from his work with you that will serve him well for many years to come.

Our Students

Over the past five years, we have worked with hundreds of students from all across the Greater Atlanta area. Our students come from a wide variety of schools, including the Dekalb School of the Arts, Dunwoody, Galloway, Holy Innocents, Lakeside, Lovett, North Springs, Pace, Riverwood, Walton, Westminster, and Woodward.

Some students come to us with combined scores of under 1200 on the new SAT test; others come with scores over 2200. We have worked with students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and severe test anxiety. Many of our students have been granted extended time by the College Board, and we offer extended time mock tests to accommodate these students. Whatever your child's particular needs are, rest assured that our highly trained and personable staff will help your child reach his or her academic or college entrance exam goals.

Class Atmosphere

A good tutoring relationship is one of our top priorities. We believe that students retain more when they are fully engaged in tutoring; therefore, we strive to keep our sessions both informative and lively. Numerous students admit that they actually miss our sessions after the coursework is complete; we feel that this camaraderie between students and their tutors is a major factor in our students' success.

One thing that sets ATS apart from other companies in the test-prep industry is that we keep our classes extraordinarily small, capping every small group at just six students. We also try to form groups based on students' scores. This keeps students from falling through the cracks as easily as they might in larger classes and makes it possible for the instructors to tailor the lessons to the needs of a particular group.

Results

On average, our SAT students achieved a global increase of 177 points on the new SAT (2007). This includes an average increase of 65 points in Math, 51 points in Critical Reading, and 61 points in Writing. Thirty percent of our students increased their scores 200+ points.

Several of our students have experienced such dramatic score increases (400 points+) that they attracted the scrutiny of the College Board. Test fraud? Not in our backyard! These students simply participated in a tutoring relationship that prepared them for the content, for the testing process, and honed all the skills they needed to finally succeed on this test.
